MSSU launches line of rapid evidence products

The MSSU is a key source of support for people with evidence synthesis needs in the Maritimes. Evidence synthesis is an integral piece of the research life cycle, allowing researchers and policy-makers to identify information gaps, and to learn from the work of others. Perhaps now more than ever, the fast pace of research during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has highlighted the importance of rapid evidence synthesis.

In response to this need for quick turnaround, the MSSU has launched a line of rapid evidence product options for research teams to choose from:

  • Background Summaries provide a brief overview of a topic, formatted in plain language.
  • Knowledge Snapshots take a more in-depth look at evidence, drawing from more sources.
  • Rapid Reviews give a complete overview of the evidence using abbreviated systematic review methods.

“COVID-19 has changed so many things, including the speed that research is moving,” says Leah Boulos, Evidence Synthesis Coordinator at the MSSU. “We want researchers and policymakers to know that we’re here to help, and that these rapid evidence products are a relatively quick and easy way to keep up with information as it happens.”

Evidence synthesis is essential in setting the groundwork for research studies. The MSSU has the expertise to produce rapid evidence products to better inform research teams and decision-makers.
