As researchers based at Trillium Health Partners’ Institute for Better Health, we’re looking for people in Canada to share their experiences and ideas on how to better involve patients in healthcare improvement. In two virtual workshops, we will:

Learn how patients, caregivers, and community members are already involved in improving healthcare.
Explore how patients, caregivers, and community members can best contribute to a new approach called “Learning Health Systems” or LHS.

The overall goal is to work towards creating guidelines for stronger patient involvement in LHS. We will use information from these two workshops to help form the guidelines later in the year, and there will be future opportunities to participate in this work.

Eligibility

Anyone who has engaged as a patient partner in health research, healthcare quality improvement, or in a Learning Health System.

Time Commitment

Workshop #1 will be held on April 16th from 6-8 PM EST. This workshop will be focused on how and to what extent patients, caregivers, and community members have been engaged in health care improvement, health research, and LHS, and how this has incorporated or overlooked equity considerations (e.g., compensation, strategies to reduce power imbalances between patients and researchers, removing barriers to participation).

Workshop #2 will be held on May 7th from 6-8 PM EST. This workshop will be focused on identifying differences and similarities between roles, expectations, and motivations for patient, caregiver, and community engagement in health care improvement, health research, and LHS.

Compensation

A $75 gift card honorarium will be provided for each workshop.
