Are you interested in helping develop a strategy to recruit and retain nurses in Nova Scotia?
The COVID-19 pandemic has had lasting impacts on the healthcare workforce, particularly for nurses. These effects include burnout and critical staff shortages in Nova Scotia, across Canada, and internationally. The current nursing shortage negatively impacts healthcare systems, nurses and patients. This Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-funded research project seeks to inform the development of a Nursing Strategy for Nova Scotia focused on recruiting and retaining nurses in response to nursing workforce challenges. The strategy will focus on improving healthcare outcomes by addressing the critical nursing shortage and its associated impacts.
Interested patient partners will be asked to attend two workshops and team meetings (virtually) to contribute as a member of a research team. The project team will meet with interested patient partners online to provide additional background on the work and discuss involvement in the work.
Eligibility
- Live in Nova Scotia
Time commitment
Patient partners will be asked to attend approximately one, hour-long team meeting monthly and invited to attend 1-to-2-day workshops in September and November 2024.
Additional involvement is flexible and may occur as necessary. As the project is already underway, patient partners can start involvement immediately, and will remain involved until the end of the project in March 2025.
Appreciation
Patient partners will be compensated for their time.
