A New Brunswick research team is looking for advisory group members from across Canada to help guide their study: Mindful Moms, Mindful Meals (MMMM). This research focuses on how a mindfulness-based program for new mothers can improve eating habits for both moms and their babies. The eight-week program, called Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training Postpartum (MB-EAT-P), is being tested in a randomized trial with women aged 19–45 and their 6–10-month-old babies. It explores how mindfulness can support mindful eating, better diets, recognizing babies’ hunger cues, and healthy feeding practices.
As a committee member, you’ll help ensure the program reflects the real challenges postpartum mothers face. By addressing issues like emotional eating and mindful feeding, the study aims to improve the health of moms and babies while shaping public health programs that support lifelong healthy eating habits. Your input will make this research even more meaningful and impactful.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the Mindful Moms, Mindful Meals (MMMM) study advisory group will ideally include postpartum mothers aged 19-45 years with infants aged 6-12 months who have started solid foods, or postpartum mothers aged 19-45 who had infants 6-12 months recently (<2 years ago). The committee members will be invited to provide feedback on the MB-EAT intervention and help understand the challenges faced by the research population.
Time commitment
Advisory group members would attend 1.5-2 hours meetings, approximately 3-5 times between January and March 2025. Another 2-3 meetings may also be scheduled after study launch. Meeting dates and time will be subject to availability of advisory group members. This is a hybrid opportunity.
Appreciation
Compensation will be offered.
