Experiences of pain in IUD insertion and endometrial biopsy

Experiences of pain in IUD insertion and endometrial biopsy

Location: Nova Scotia
Role description: Research Team Member
Available positions: 2
Deadline to apply: September 18, 2024

Have you had a memorable experience with pain control when having an IUD inserted or getting an endometrial biopsy?

Researchers with the outpatient gynecology clinic at IWK Health are looking for one to two patient partners to assist in survey development for a research project that aims to understand the lived experience of patients undergoing an IUD insertion or endometrial biopsy. The survey aims to explore patient experiences with procedural pain, whether pain management strategies were offered and used for their comfort and whether their pain management needs were met. Researchers will be seeking the input from the patient partners to ensure that the information gathered within the survey will capture what is important to patients.

Eligibility

  • Have recently experienced either an IUD insertion, an endometrial biopsy or both
  • Must be 18+

Time commitment
The project is ongoing and is anticipated to end in June 2025. The focus on survey development is occurring during the month of September, with revisions (if needed) during the fall. These discussions will take place through email and/or a one-hour virtual meeting. The patient partner will also attend 1 to 2 virtual meetings with the research team lasting about one hour through the study period.

How to apply

Only those selected will be contacted.
