Exploring the implementation and impacts of the Adult Comfort Promise – a pain management intervention for women and gender-diverse adults

Location: Nova Scotia
Role description: Research Team Member
Available positions: 3
Deadline to apply: August 8, 2025

The Adult Comfort Promise (ACP) is an initiative led by the Ambulatory Care Clinic at the IWK to improve the assessment, treatment and prevention of pain during gynecological procedures. There is a need for multi-component evidence-based interventions that reduce pain and overcome the barriers rooted in gender biases, inclusive of distraction techniques, medications and assessments. It is essential to understand how pain management interventions are implemented by healthcare providers and which strategies can facilitate their acceptability, given the gender biases interconnected to pain assessments and treatment. This mixed methods study explores the implementation and impacts of a multicomponent intervention (the Adult Comfort Promise) to improve pain care for women and gender diverse adults.

A patient partner was engaged for the Translating Research into Care grant submission. They provided feedback on data collection, analysis and knowledge translation. This patient was a volunteer.
