Researchers are looking for patient partners to help improve post-abortion care and support better health outcomes. This study focuses on what matters most to patients—making sure people have clear, reliable information, better emotional support, and trustworthy guidance when going through a medication abortion.

Objectives of the research project
1. To develop AbortionCareTXT as a standardized set of text messages for patients undergoing a medication abortion based on current evidence and guidelines.
2. To refine the messages with patients who have previously undergone a medication abortion as well as healthcare providers engaged in abortion care to ensure the messages are appropriate and acceptable.

Eligibility

  • Patients must have undergone a medication abortion within the past year.
  • They must reside in Canada.
  • They must have access to a computer for videoconferencing interviews.
  • They must be able to speak and read in English.

Time Commitment

The patient engagement phase involves individual semi-structured interviews conducted via Zoom. Each interview is expected to last approximately one hour. Patients will also be asked to complete a brief demographic questionnaire which takes about 2 minutes to complete. Engagement will occur over 2-3 rounds of iterative testing, with 7-8 patients per round. The study is structured to ensure meaningful patient feedback while minimizing participant burden.

Compensation

Compensation will be provided upon completion of the interviews and brief questionnaire.

How to apply

Only those selected will be contacted.
