Dementia Caregivers’ Perspectives on Spiritual Care

Location: New Brunswick
Role description: Research Team Member
Deadline to apply: September 20, 2025

As dementia becomes more common in Canada, the need for meaningful and accessible support for caregivers is more important than ever. CHAT with the Chaplain is a program that provides emotional, spiritual, and educational support for people caring for loved ones with dementia.

This study looks at the experiences of caregivers who take part in CHAT, as well as those supporting family members in both long-term care and the community. About 30–45 caregivers will be involved through interviews and group discussions. The goal is to learn how spiritual and emotional support impacts their well-being, sense of connection, and views on the program’s value.

This research aims to show how spiritual care can help caregivers feel more resilient, less stressed, and more connected. The findings will guide future improvements to the CHAT program and support its possible expansion, helping to create more inclusive and sustainable models of dementia care.
