The MSSU is looking for people with lived and living experience to be reviewers for the 2026-27 Trainee Support Program!

The Trainee Support Program is a funding opportunity open to trainees who want to build skills in patient-oriented research and are entering or enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program at a university in New Brunswick or Nova Scotia. There is a two-step review process, where MSSU Scientist Selection Committee members score all applications to identify the top candidates, then top ranking applications’ Patient Engagement Plans are reviewed by people with lived and living experience. Training and support will be provided and a detailed rubric has been developed to assist in the review process.

Eligibility

Experience in reviewing applications is an asset but not required.

Time Commitment

  • Rubric/Process Review Session: April 24th 1-2pm
  • Independent review and scoring of 7-8 applications identified by MSSU Scientists Selection Committee members (~5 hours)
  • Anticipated dates for review: May 11th – May 22nd
  • One 1/2 day virtual meeting of the Selection Committee with MSSU Scientists: June 10th 1-4pm
