Co-Designing a Digital Health Literacy Tool to Support Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Decision Making with Young Men who Have Sex with Men (YMSM)

Location: Canada
Role description: Committee Member
Deadline to apply: November 14, 2025

Researchers are currently forming a Community Engagement Council (CEC) to guide their project, which includes young men who have sex with men (YMSM) and experts in vaccinology, health literacy, sex and gender science, public health, digital health, and community-based research. The CEC will aim to build capacity amongst YMSM partners and experts in order to better contextualize the research problem (suboptimal rates of HPV vaccine uptake amongst YMSM, despite being identified as a priory population). Participants’ ideas and experiences about HPV vaccination will directly inform the development of a user-centered, digital tool to support HPV vaccine decision-making amongst YMSM.

Eligibility

YMSM community members (sexual practices that are independent of sexual orientation; may include heterosexual-identifying individuals) who are between 18-26 years of age. Can be from anywhere in Canada.

Time Commitment

This commitment is anticipated to begin in January 2026, and is expected to be completed by January 2027. CEC members will meet quarterly via virtual meetings with the research team, with each meetings lasting approximately 60 minutes.

Compensation

25$ gift card as honorarium for each meeting attended, as well as opportunities to build skills in health research.

How to apply

Only those selected will be contacted.
