Trauma Prevention in Nova Scotia

Trauma Nova Scotia is seeking public partners to provide input on research studies and initiatives related to the prevention of major traumatic injuries in Nova Scotia. This specific opportunity involves helping with a grant application and/or providing input on a survey that will be distributed to Nova Scotians to gather insights on the public’s trauma prevention priorities. Public partners can choose to assist with either the grant application, the survey, or both, depending on their interest and availability.

Public partners will participate in a Trauma Nova Scotia-specific orientation. This opportunity is flexible and can be conducted entirely virtually if preferred. Please note that this is a voluntary position at this stage. However, there is potential for ongoing involvement in the project if it receives funding, at which point compensation will be offered.

Eligibility

Persons who currently reside in Nova Scotia. Can be a previous trauma patient or family member, but this is not a requirement. Should have an interest in injury prevention activities, or interest to learn about injury prevention.
Additional Qualities:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Non-judgmental.
  • Respects other people’s opinions and perspectives.
  • Able to share thoughts and opinions.

Time commitment
During this phase of the project, we are seeking engagement during the development stages. The time commitment is approximately 1-2 hours per month for three months. Public partners have the option to assist with the grant application, the survey, or both, based on their interest. There may be opportunities for continued involvement if the project is funded or if there is interest in subsequent phases of the survey.

Appreciation will be offered if successful with the grant application.
