Patient Perceptions of Pharmacist Primary Care Services

Patient Perceptions of Pharmacist Primary Care Services

Location: Atlantic Canada
Role description: Focus Group Participant
Deadline to apply: September 30, 2024

Take the eligibility survey

The purpose of this study is to identify and describe patient reported experience and outcome measures of interest when receiving pharmacist provided primary care. To do this, researchers use virtual interviews and focus groups to better understand patient experience with pharmacist provided care. They will then design a survey to share more widely with the public to determine the types of pharmacist-led care that matter most to them.

Background:

Access to primary care in Canada can be difficult. There is a growing number of people who do not have regular access to a primary care provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Family Physician). Community pharmacists play an important role in delivering primary care, but there is limited understanding of what care pharmacists can provide and what impact the delivery of this care has on patient experiences and outcomes (e.g., improved health). Patient/Public Partners are involved as members of the research team.

Eligibility:

  • Received clinical care, such as immunizations, pharmacist assessment and prescribing, or medication reviews, from a pharmacist or visited a pharmacy primary care or pharmacist-led walk-in clinic in the last year in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, or Newfoundland)
  • 18 years or older
  • Speak, read, and understand English
  • Have access to a device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, computer) with a camera that will allow connection to a focus group via Microsoft Teams

Time commitment:
This opportunity will consist of a one-hour long virtual focus group.
