Dr. Adrian Levy has stepped down from his role as Nominated Principal Investigator of the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU). Dr. Levy was responsible for the initiation and growth of the MSSU and led a number of successful research initiatives, including the development of the Nova Scotia Health Atlas. We wish Dr. Levy well in his future endeavours and thank him for his many contributions to the MSSU.
Dr. David Anderson, Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University will act as Nominated Principal Investigator. Dr. Anderson has been involved with the MSSU since its inception and is the current chair of the Nova Scotia Provincial Advisory Committee. Dr. Anderson advocates that the MSSU is a fantastic resource for the Maritime Provinces to support patient-oriented research. It offers a means for government, provincial health authorities and individual scientists to address important scientific questions designed to improve the health of the people of Maritime Canada. Laura Dowling continues in her role as Assistant Director of the MSSU. Should you, or a member of your organization, have any questions about the ongoing operations of the MSSU, do not hesitate to reach out to Laura.
The fall will be a very busy period for the MSSU. There are a number of upcoming events and training opportunities such as data access seminars, grant writing workshops, and the annual clin-epi workshop. Be sure to check the MSSU Training and Events Calendar, as well as our Twitter account (@MaritimeSPOR) for the complete list of upcoming events. The MSSU continues to support multiple research projects in each of the Maritime Provinces. We look forward for the opportunity to renew this project for a second term with CIHR.
