The Centre for Health and Community Research (CHCR) at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is leading a study to measure how common gambling was amongst adults in PEI in 2019 and gambling trends over time. This work follows on previous studies performed in 2005 and 1999.
The study is also examining behaviours related to in-person and online gambling in PEI. There is a particular focus on the characteristics and harms associated with problem gambling. Findings from this research has led to a focus on further research and initiatives at helping youth. The report also directly informed the development of the 2023-2028 Responsible Gambling Strategy.
