The MSSU is pleased to welcome two new Science Leads, Drs. Katie Aubrecht and Natalie Rosen, who will provide leadership, expertise and support for research and training in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and Sex and Gender-Based Analysis (SGBA+).
Dr. Katie Aubrecht, the new MSSU Science Lead for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), is a Canada Research Chair in Health Equity and Social Justice and Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at St. Francis Xavier University. Dr. Aubrecht studies marginality and mental health, and rurality and resilience over the course of people’s lives. This research has the overall goal of enhancing person- and family-centred services and supports for diverse communities in Atlantic Canada.
Dr. Natalie Rosen, the new MSSU Science Lead for Sex and Gender-Based Analysis (SGBA+), is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Neuroscience and Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Dalhousie University. Dr. Rosen’s research focuses on how sex and gender intersect with interpersonal (i.e., relational) factors to influence the development, maintenance, and consequences associated with sexual health problems.
Together, they will provide support in EDI and SGBA+ to the MSSU community across the Maritimes, and help to ensure that EDI and SGBA+ are approached and considered in a meaningful way in research and training.
