Researching Information, Support, and Equity During the Menopause Transition in Canada

Atlantic Canada
Survey Respondent
Deadline to apply: August 30, 2026

Researching Information, Support, and Equity During the Menopause Transition in Canada (Can-RISE) is a Canada-wide study led by Dr. Lori Brotto (University of British Columbia) that aims to better understand the experiences of people navigating perimenopause and menopause. The study explores menopausal symptoms, impacts on daily life and quality of life, access to healthcare and support services, and sources of information used during the menopause transition.

Menopause affects a significant proportion of Canadians, yet many individuals report challenges accessing information, support, and appropriate healthcare. This study seeks to generate evidence that can help improve menopause care, support services, health system responsiveness, and health outcomes for those experiencing menopause.

The study is patient-oriented because it centers the lived and living experiences of people navigating perimenopause and menopause. Participants are asked to share their experiences, priorities, symptoms, and healthcare needs through a national survey. The research focuses on questions that matter directly to patients, including access to care, symptom management, quality of life, and health equity. Findings will be used to inform future patient-centered research, healthcare practices, resources, and policies aimed at improving menopause care across Canada.
