Public use of artificial intelligent (AI) – powered conversational chatbots for health: Characterizing user experiences and identifying priority areas for safety interventions for Nova Scotians: This mixed-methods project (3yr) examines how Nova Scotians (post-secondary and college students) use AI-powered conversational chatbots (e.g., ChatGPT) for health-related purposes, including their experiences, benefits, and risks. It includes a rapid evidence review, qualitative interviews, and a cross-sectional survey to assess patterns and frequency of use, with open-ended responses to capture perceived benefits and concerns. Findings will describe current use and experiences in Nova Scotia, identify priority areas for safety interventions, and inform strategies to support safe and informed use of these tools.
