About the project

The Fairness Dialogues project tested a new way to gather public values on complex health care issues through guided, scenario-based discussions. Using a fictional town called Troutville, participants explored thought-provoking questions about fairness and equity in primary health care, such as who should get priority when health resources are limited.

The Fairness Dialogues method shows promise for helping policymakers better understand public values and include them in decisions about health care policy. The project also builds Nova Scotia’s capacity for meaningful public engagement on equity issues in the health system.
