Supporting Maritime Learning Health Systems

What is a learning health system (LHS)?

A learning health system (LHS) is a partnership between research, clinical care, policy, and patients. It is a combination of a health system and a research system that is:

  • Anchored on patients and focused on improving their care experiences and health
  • Driven by timely data and evidence
  • Bolstered by governance that is aligned with LHS goals and provides appropriate supports
  • Based on a culture of best practices (Lavis, 2018)

How does MSSU fit into a LHS?

MSSU supports the development of a LHS by collaborating with government and health authority partners, clinicians, researchers, and Patient/Public Partners. We offer strategic support relating to each part of the LHS cycle.
