We are organizing a conference for a CIHR Health Research Training Platform called VAST. VAST is focused on improving research training opportunities in the broad field of vascular cognitive impairment (e.g. post-stroke cognitive impairment, vascular dementia).
We are in early stages of planning the 2027 VAST Conference which will be hosted in or near Halifax, sometime in late May or early June next year.
As part of the planning, we seek to engage with people with lived experience so that they may help us in shaping an inclusive and impactful event. In the past, our conferences have included sessions dedicated to helping trainees develop skills to better engage with people with lived experience. We have recruited two care partners to help, and are currently seeking a patient partner. The rest of the committee is made up of faculty members, healthcare providers, trainees/students, and VAST staff.
